How to Care for Your Diva Pieces

Every piece from Diva by Sangeeta Ranka is made from premium natural fabrics and finished with artisan craft techniques — chanderi, Irish linen, habutai silk, organza, and georgette, with hand embroidery, pintak, kantha, zardozi, and block print. These materials and techniques reward careful handling and repay the investment with decades of beautiful wear.

General Care Rule

Dry clean only. All Diva pieces — regardless of fabric — should be dry cleaned. Home washing risks damaging the embroidery, the fabric structure, and the craft work that defines each piece. All articles should be ironed using a steam iron after laying flat on an ironing board.

Chanderi

Chanderi's characteristic lustre comes from its silk content — it should be handled with care. Dry clean only. If steam ironing, use a low setting on the reverse side of the fabric to protect the sheen. Store folded in a clean cotton muslin cloth — avoid hanging, which can distort the weave over time. Keep away from direct sunlight for extended periods to preserve the colour.

Irish Linen

Irish linen is one of the world's most durable natural fibres — it actually improves with age and careful cleaning. Dry clean only. If ironing, use a steam iron while the fabric is slightly damp for the crispest result. Linen softens naturally with each clean, developing a beautiful hand that new linen does not have. Store folded, not hung.

Habutai Silk

Habutai silk is lightweight and delicate. Dry clean only. Never wring or twist silk fabric. Store folded in tissue or muslin. Avoid spraying perfume directly onto silk — apply perfume before dressing.

Organza & Tissue

Organza and tissue dupattas are the most delicate fabrics in the Diva collection. Dry clean only. Store separately from heavier garments to avoid snags. When folding, avoid sharp creases — fold loosely and store flat where possible.

Embroidered Pieces

Pieces with hand embroidery, kantha, zardozi, pintak, or applique work require particular care. Dry clean only — never home wash embroidered pieces. When ironing, always iron on the reverse side and use a pressing cloth between the iron and the embroidery. Never iron directly over pintak or applique work.

Block Printed Pieces

Block printed Irish linen pieces should be dry cleaned only for the first several cleanings to preserve the dye. After that, gentle hand washing in cold water with a mild detergent is acceptable, but dry cleaning remains the preferred method to maintain the vibrancy of the print.

Storage

Store all Diva pieces folded in clean cotton muslin or tissue paper. Avoid plastic bags, which trap moisture. For occasion wear with heavy embroidery, store flat rather than hanging. Keep stored pieces away from direct sunlight and damp.
